3ds Max Table tutorial - Part 1




Wooden Table - Part 1



Hello everybody, I am ssk and in this tutorial I will show you how to model this table with boxes and it is very easy. So lets quickly get into this and start right away.


From the create panel select the standard primitives and click on the button that says box as shown below:



Then draw the box in the Top viewport as shown below:



Go to Modify Panel and set the Length , Width and Height as shown below:



Activate the Move tool as shown below:



And at the bottom change the X, Y, Z value of the box to 0 as shown below:




Now for the legs create another box, so in the create panel click on the box button as shown below:





Draw the box in the Top viewport as shown below:




Go to Modify panel and set the Length, Width and Height as shown below:



And at the bottom, set the X, Y, Z values of the box as shown below:





Now in the perspective view you should see something like as shown below:



Now I know its not looking like a Table in anyway, so don't loose your hope people and we will fix that in the next figure. It is better to change the colors of the box according to my tutorial.


As shown in the above figure, please select the green box which is the first box we created.


And at the bottom set the Z value to 40 as shown below:





Well as i told you and we fixed that see below how cool it is:





Hey don't get so excited to take it home and start using it, stop it, put it back right there, we need to add few more detials. ;-)


Now select the Brown box which is the leg of the Table and right click to convert to Editable Mesh as shown below:

Select the Vertex mode from the sub object level as shown below:





In the Front view port Select the Top vertices and Scale them inwards horizontally as shown below:




Now exit the sub level object by clicking the editable mesh once and Shift drag upwards in the topview port and select instance as shown below:




Now select the Box03 and shift rotate it to make a copy as shown below:




In the Right viewport Select the rotated box and select the vertices and move them as shown below:









Now select the box and shift drag to left to make a copy and select instance as shown below:



In the Front viewport select the above copied box and select all four vertices and scale the vertices outward horizontally as shown below:

Select all the boxes and hit M on the keyboard to bring the Material Editor and click the Get Material button as shown below:




Now select the option Mtl Library in the browse from section as shown below:




Now double click the Wood_Cedfence from the list on the right as shown below:




And click on the Assign Material button as shown below:




Well congratulations! you have successfully completed the Table model if followed correctly.

Now Render the Perspective view and you have it.
